you lie in the heat of a summer haze and turn it into a winter's tale you pull down the blinds and shut out the sky and do what you can to turn the whole thing grey you're crying and pleading and you're hell just to be with and you're everything that i'll ever need so why do you say you love me when you don't? you fall back into the english way of feeling only guilt 'cause you feel no pain you sit and you stare at the empty page and then you fill it with verse, make the whole thing worse you lie and you cheat your own mind to believing that you don't need anything or anyone so why do you say you love me when you don't? and why should i feel blue when i do? why? you lie in the heat of a summer haze and turn it into a winter's tale you fall back into the english way of feeling only guilt 'cause you feel no pain you're crying and pleading and you're hell just to be with and you're everything that i'll ever need so why do you say you love me when you don't? why should i feel... and who's gonna love the loveless if not you? why? why?

you look so good when you're depressed
better even in your current state of undress
tears caressing me like rain
and i'm not even thinking, i feel fine in your pain
the coolest thing i ever saw
you were sitting there smoking my cigarettes
you were naked on the bare stone floor
you looked at me to say don't guess
i was only watching, yes i love you more undressed
is it really such a sin?
should i feel some kind of shame?
will i truly go to hell?
oh you never lock the bathroom door
should i be embarrassed when i've seen a hundred times before
how do married couples cope
should i say excuse me darling, i don't know
we could disconnect the telephone
just sit around and mess around
and tell your ma we went to rome, tennessee
and i'm not even drinking, i feel fine, it's scary
is it really such a sin?
should i feel some kind of shame?
will i truly go to hell?
oh well
the coolest thing i ever saw
you were sitting there smoking my cigarettes
you were naked on the bare stone floor
you looked at me to say don't guess
i was only watching, is it bad that i should love you best
undressed

lloyd cole. é para ti, claro.
I am cold, distant, increasingly resistant to your smile
And this I don't deny
You are bold, beautiful, I'm always going to be in love with
you
Amphetamines or none
You say - Give it to me straight
Well I already did
There isn't any more
And what pale fire I ever had is gone
But you don't want to hear that in a song
Music in a foreign language
Words that we don't understand
Melodies won't come between us
And even if you wanted - we can't sing along
La la la...
I heard a voice - resonant, born of Scandinavian descent
I didn't comprehend a single word, sentence
My stunted sensibility content
To listen without words
I'll try to give it to you straight
My heart is almost full - there's not a lot of space
