a green plastic watering can
for a fake chinese rubber plant
in the fake plastic earth

that she bought from a rubber man
in a town full of rubber plans
to get rid of itself

it wears her out, it wears her out
it wears her out, it wears her out

she lives with a broken man
a cracked polystyrene man
who just crumbles and burns

he used to do surgery
on girls in the eighties
but gravity always wins

and it wears him out, it wears him out
it wears him out, it wears him out

she looks like the real thing
she tastes like the real thing
my fake plastic love

but i can't help the feeling
i could blow through the ceiling
if i just turn and run

and it wears me out, it wears me out
it wears me out, it wears me out

and if i could be who you wanted
if i could be who you wanted
all the time, all the time

que não consigo deixar de corar;
a alma, a paciência e as maneiras.

sob a torreira e o frio
faço a escarpa brotar vinho

sonhei que era o mississipi
e que memphis era no pinhão
vindimando ao som de adufe
bandolim e acordeão

rio abaixo rio acima
a dar aos remos no rabelo
rio abaixo rio acima
sayago paira por cima
o sonho vira pesadelo

vinha eu no meu caíco
a ouvir das águas do douro
velhas lendas de fronteira
entre o cristão e o mouro

quando vi um pescador
a olhar o rio inconsolável
que é da enguia e do robalo
da tainha e do sável

rio abaixo rio acima
a dar aos remos no rabelo
rio abaixo rio acima
sayago paira por cima
o sonho vira pesadelo

Testamento

Disse: Creio na poesia, no amor, na morte,
e por isso mesmo creio na imortalidade. Escrevo um verso,
escrevo o mundo; existo; existe o mundo.

We dive into a dark doorway
Hiding from the clouds of grey
Oh babe, I don`t mind it at all
We stay close to one another
Laughing as we watch the waterfall

Rain Scottish Rain
I can feel your pulse beat so strong
Feel you warm and feel you young
Oh babe, like children once again
We stay close to one another
Captives of the Scottish Rain

Rain Scottish Rain
Hope it don`t rain all day
Rain Scottish Rain
We stay close to one another
Captives of the
Natives of the Scottish Rain

do amor e do flower power... ouço-a desde que me lembro.

(sim… também eu sou um ageing hippie…)

The continent of Atlantis was an island which lay before
the great flood in the area we now call the Atlantic Ocean.
So great an area of land, that from her western shores those
beautiful sailors journeyed to the South and the North Americas
with ease, in their ships with painted sails.
To the East Africa was a neighbour, across a short strait of sea miles.
The great Egyptian age is but a remnant of The Atlantian culture.
The antediluvian kings colonised the world
All the Gods who play in the mythological dramas
In all legends from all lands were from fair Atlantis.
Knowing her fate, Atlantis sent out ships to all corners of the Earth.
On board were the Twelve:
The poet, the physician, the farmer, the scientist,
The magician and the other so-called Gods of our legends.
Though Gods they were -
And as the elders of our time choose to remain blind
Let us rejoice and let us sing and dance and ring in the new
Hail Atlantis!
Way down below the ocean where I wanna be she may be,
Way down below the ocean where I wanna be she may be,
Way down below the ocean where I wanna be she may be.
Way down below the ocean where I wanna be she may be,
Way down below the ocean where I wanna be she may be.
My antediluvian baby, oh yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah,
I wanna see you some day
My antediluvian baby, oh yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah,
My antediluvian baby,
My antediluvian baby, I love you, girl,
Girl, I wanna see you some day.
My antediluvian baby, oh yeah
I wanna see you some day, oh
My antediluvian baby,
My antediluvian baby, I wanna see you
My antediluvian baby, gotta tell me where she gone
I wanna see you some day
Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, oh yeah
Oh glub glub, down down, yeah
My antediluvian baby, oh yeah yeah yeah yeah

para voltar ao princípio do mundo

sei de uma mulher
que penteava os cabelos ao sol
porque tinha no pensamento uma flor

sei que os lavava ao luar
porque tinha no coração uma corola

com a boca mordia o ar
e prendia os vestidos ao vento

era uma mulher sentada numa pedra
coroada por um lírio salgado na fronte

um dia
cortou os cabelos
atirando-os um a um ao mar

e disse: tece-me

My mamma done told me,
when I was in pigtails,
My mamma done told me, "Hon,
A man is a two-face,
he'll give you the big eye,
and when the sweet talking's done.
A man is a two-face,
a warrisome thing who'll leave you to sing,
The blues in the night."

Now the rains a-fallin',
hear the trains a-callin', "whooee!"
Hear that lonesome whistle
blowin' across the tresle, "whooee!"
a-whooee-ah-whooee, clickety-clack,
comes echoing back,
The blues in the night.

From Natchez to Mobile,
from Memphis to St. Joe
Wherever the four winds blow.
I've been in some big towns
and heard me some big talk,
But there is one thing I know.
A man is a two-face,
a warrisome thing who'll leave you to sing,
The blues in the night.

My mamma done told me,
when I was in pigtails,
My mamma done told me, "Hon,
A man is a two-face,
he'll give you the big eye,
and when the sweet talking's done.
A man is a two-face,
a warrisome thing who'll leave you to sing,
The blues in the night."

hey charley i'm pregnant
and living on 9th street
right above a dirty bookstore
off euclid avenue
and i stopped taking dope
and i quit drinking whiskey
and my old man plays the trombone
and works out at the track.

and he says that he loves me
even though its not his baby
and he says that he'll raise him up
like he would his own son
and he gave me a ring
that was worn by his mother
and he takes me out dancin’
every saturday night.

and hey charley i think about you
everytime i pass a fillin' station
on account of all the grease
you used to wear in your hair
and i still have that record
of little anthony & the imperials
but someone stole my record player
how do you like that?

hey charley i almost went crazy
after mario got busted
so i went back to omaha to
live with my folks
but everyone i used to know
was either dead or in prison
so i came back to minneapolis
this time i think i'm gonna stay.

hey charley i think i'm happy
for the first time since my accident
and i wish i had all the money
that we used to spend on dope
i'd buy me a used car lot
and i wouldn't sell any of ‘em
i'd just drive a different car
every day dependin on how i feel.

hey charley for chrissakes
if you want to know the truth of it
i don't have a husband
he don't play the trombone
and i need to borrow money
to pay this lawyer and charley, hey
i'll be eligible for parole
come valentines day.

Não sei se sabes
que a meio da manhã
o verde dos teus lábios
passou para as encostas
e um gomo transparente
adormeceu nos juncos e abriu.
Abriu um brilho qualquer
na gruta fria e pôs uma fogueira
pequenina numa taça
e elevou as mãos quentes
pelo dia.
talvez tu saibas que o principal
do amor

If only tonight we could sleep
In a bed made of flowers
If only tonight we could fall
In a deathless spell

If only tonight we could slide
Into deep black water
And breathe...
Then an angel would come
With burning eyes like stars
And bury us deep
In his velvet arms
And the rain would cry
As our faces slipped away
And the rain would cry
Don't let it end...

How was I to know that this was always only just a little game to you?
All the time I felt you gave your heart I thought that I would do the same for you,
Tell the truth I think I should have seen it coming from a mile away,
When the words you say are, “Baby I’m a fool who thinks it’s cool to fall in love”

If I gave a thought to fascination I would know it wasn’t right to care,
Logic doesn’t seem to mind that I am fascinated by a love affair,
Still my heart would benefit from a little tenderness from time to time, but never mind,
Cos baby I’m a fool who thinks it’s cool to fall in love

Baby I should hold on just a moment and be sure it’s not for vanity,
Look me in the eye and tell me love is never based upon insanity,
Even when my heart is beating hurry up the moment's fleeting,
Kiss me now, don’t ask me how,

Cos baby I’m a fool who thinks it’s cool to fall,
Baby I’m a fool who thinks it’s cool to fall,
And I would never tell if you became a fool and fell in love.

O descascador de canela

Se eu fosse um descascador de canela
deitar-me-ia na tua cama
e deixaria o pó amarelo da casca
na tua almofada.

Os teus seios e os teus ombros cheirariam a canela
nunca mais poderias passar no mercado
sem a profissão dos meus dedos
flutuando por cima de ti. O cego tropeçaria
certo de quem se aproximava
mesmo que tomasses banho
na chuva das calhas, na monção.

Aqui no cimo da coxa
neste macio pasto
vizinho do teu cabelo
ou do sulco
que te divide as costas. Este tornozelo.
Serás conhecida entre os estranhos
como a mulher do descascador de canela.

Só a custo te podia ver
antes do casamento
nunca te toquei
- a tua mãe nariguda, os teus irmãos tão brutos.
Enterrei as minhas mãos
em açafrão, disfarcei-as com
alcatrão de tabaco
ajudei os apicultores a colher o mel…

Uma vez que estávamos a nadar
toquei-te na água
e os nossos corpos permaneceram livres,
podias segurar-me e ser cega de cheiro
Saltaste a margem e disseste

isto é como tu tocas as outras mulheres
a mulher do cortador de relva,
a filha do queimador de limão
E procuraste nas tuas mãos
o perfume desaparecido

e soubeste

sou a mulher do descascador
de canela.
Cheira-me.

people i know, places i go, make me feel tongue-tied
i can see how people look down, they're on the inside
here's where the story ends
people i see, weary of me showing my good side
i can see how people look down, i'm on the outside
here's where the story ends
ooh here's where the story ends

it's that little souvenir of a terrible year
which makes my eyes feel sore
oh i never should have said, the books that you read
were all i loved you for
it's that little souvenir of a terrible year
which makes me wonder why
and it's the memories of your shed that make me turn red
surprise, surprise, surprise

crazy i know, places i go
make me feel so tired
i can see how people look down
i'm on the outside
oh here's where the story ends
ooh here's where the story ends

it's that little souvenir of a terrible year
which makes my eyes feel sore
and who ever would've thought the books that you brought
were all i loved you for
oh the devil in me said, go down to the shed
i know where i belong
but the only thing i ever really wanted to say
was wrong, was wrong, was wrong

it's that little souvenir of a colourful year
which makes me smile inside
so i cynically, cynically say, the world is that way
surprise, surprise, surprise, surprise, surprise
here's where the story ends
ooh here's where the story ends

Conclusão

Fui amante da morte
e da beleza. Vi a loucura,
acreditei na vida.
Da infância falei
como lugar de abismo.
O prazer
foi também a grande fonte
de perturbação e alegria.
Lembrei as mulheres
que recusaram submeter-se,
escrevi palavras fúnebres.

Não poupei a adolescência,
o coração magoado
e não soube que fazer
de mim fora das palavras.
Escrevi para desistir
e depender
e ter identidade.

Meu amor, agarra-me pela mão. Não me largues agora.

Meu amor, segura-me pela cintura.

Meu amor, prende-me ao tronco do teu corpo. Não me desamarres nunca.

Fala-me sempre.

Meu amor, desfigura-me o nariz.

Meu amor, corta-me as mãos.

Meu amor, corta-me as mãos.

Going up, down, down, up, anyway you want to let it roll

late night and early morning low clouds
with a chance of fog
chance of showers into the afternoon
with variable high cloudiness
and gusty winds, gusty winds
at times around the corner of
sunset and alvarado
things are tough all over
when the thunder storms start
increasing over the southeast
and south central portions
of my apartment, i get upset
and a line of thunderstorms was
developing in the early morning
ahead of a slow moving coldfront
cold blooded
with tornado watches issued shortly
before noon sunday, for the areas
including, the western region
of my mental health
and the northern portions of my
ability to deal rationally with my
disconcerted precarious emotional
situation, it's cold out there
colder than a ticket taker's smile
at the ivar theatre on a saturday night
flash flood watches covered the
southern portion of my disposition
there was no severe weather well
into the afternoon, except for a lone gust of
wind in the bedroom
in a high pressure zone, covering the eastern
portion of a small suburban community
with a 1034 millibar high pressure zone
and a weak pressure ridge extending from
my eyes down to my cheeks cause
since you left me baby
and put the vice grips on my mental health
well the extended outlook for an
indefinite period of time until you
come back to me baby is high tonight
low tomorrow,
and precipitation is expected

You must be crazy to stay here,
and I'll be crazy when you go;
though there's so much I want to tell you
all the words come out too slow.
I've been locked in my problems,
you seemed prepared to wait...
now that I know I'm going to lose you
all the words come out too late.

There's no promise I can give you that you wouldn't know was fake;
though I just want to be with you, there's no show that I can make.
And in the morning, when I wake and find you dressing
I can tell that it's on your mind to go for good;
I know that all this time I've kept you guessing,
but I'd tell you if I could.
If I now said that I loved you
how would that seem in your eyes?
Oh, may my voice fall into silence
if my words turn out to be lies.
I never meant to hurt you,
even though that's what I do -
even though you might not believe this
all my words were meant for you.
There's no promise I can give you that you wouldn't know was fake;
though I just want to be with you, there's no show that I can make.
And in the evening, when we sit and watch the TV
I know that this silence just won't do me any good
and I want to beg you, beg you, beg you to believe me...
I'd tell you if I could,
I'd tell you if I could.

I'm just a human
I never said I was God
And each day I wonder where you are
How could our lives once be so together
Now we're apart
I know we can make it
But where do we start?
Sometimes the scales get unbalanced
Don't you know the reason why?

The difference is why
The difference is why

You say you can't trust me
Have you tried?
You say you don't love me
That's a lie
There are so many so many rainbows
That we were to climb
But baby baby why can't we survive?
We've got to get our heads untangled
And free our state of mind

The difference is why
The difference is why

Sometimes the scales get unbalanced
Don't you know the reason why?

The difference is why
The difference is why
Does this have to mean goodbye?
